I have a preference for starting with !=9.1.0, but I see the case that it might make a couple of patch releases on the pytest side to settle.

Ah, I also see this as a usage we should not be doing anymore which they probably won't fix in a patch release. |

Pytest 9.1 was released yesterday and lots of our tests are broken. I looked into it a little but it is not a five minute job to fix, so for now I suggest we pin to unbreak CI.
